Most of the running was under cover for both chases. But on fox #2- when he did break away, even though I never got him on camera, I got the hounds - good puzzle they worked out since the fox had a 10 minute- or more- lead, lol!!! My Blanket business has never slowed down this winter and I'm missing some hunts...but gotta pay the bills!
Headed to the Clay Swamp!!!

The first sunny day since the Nor'easter blew through- and foxes were everywhere- I guessing they were all out drying themselves off in the early morning sun. This was most definitely a dog fox- pretty coat and running straight-necked much of the time.

not even a very good looking fox, either - whats your guess-is it an itchy ( mangey) fox or a vixen who pulled all of her hair out ?? This was a quick edit- just didn't have time to sift through all of the footage.
Back at it after a hiatus- 12/30/16

more of a hunt report of the days events- perhaps a bit rusty with the videography. But finally getting my life back, anyway.
Over exuberant Reilly, lol
Переглядів 10 тис.7 років тому
This is 1/2 hour into our huntthis morning. Reilly is ontop, and over runs the line- probably didn't help that she may have seen me trying to hide behind a tree, lol. this was the closest I got to hounds and foxes during the 2 hour hunt- and Im just too tired to sift thru the other video clips to see whats there. Hunting again tomorrow.... I was justgoing to post to our FB age, but couldn't get...

Keeping the fox out of the briars! "HEY, FOX"!!!
That is one clever fox.
Foxhunting for 60 years I was
Love to foxhunt and hear the hound music
It's always been a dream of mine to have a few acres and about 20 Foxhounds. Just have not been able to pull it off yet. I have less than an acre and 2 Foxhounds. We still go exploring off my property quite often, they go to bed tired every night. What I've noticed about them is that their eyesight and hearing is amazing, but their nose isn't near as acute as Beagles or Bassets I've shared my life with. If my Dogs could speak they would say "If I have the straightline speed, eyesight and hearing of a superhero, so what if my nose isn't quite up to a lazy Basset standards, I can run circles around a Basset, have you ever seen a Basset actually catch anything other than a snail?" I'd have to agree with them.
This comment section is full of pathetic “men” just like the cowards in the video
Can you say what state you are in? I know some fellas in New Jersey that run PMD’s
I had the opportunity to run with Fred and his friends several years ago with my daughter and a few of our hunting friends

Go putt them hounds on a hog something can stand a chance against a dog. That’s just disrespectful to the animal.
Nice hound work very similar breed of hound that we have in Ireland possibly kerry beagle blood lines brought over from the old country many generations past
Eso lo que son es un paquete de chancharo,yo solo tengo seis de cacería y no se le van cerdo y el terreno es mucho más difícil

Love the hound music foxhunted for 60 years
Собак много, а толку мало
Question: is it only mounted fox hunting these ignorant people condem. What about the hunters who shoot or put an arrow into an animal, only injuring it. Let's it crawl off to die a slow painful death. What of owners abusing their pets everyday. Or dog/bull/cock fighting. Puppy mills. Birds locked in small cages, who want to be free to fly. Hey close slaughter houses, that's barbaric. Visit one, the fear in the animals eyed, the smell of blood& the screams of the ones skined alive due to human errors. No clean kill. Om. Let's stop ALL abuse to animals. Then to children. Foxes are predators and kill livestock & pets. Farmers ask is to eliminate the fox. If we don't hunt them, others do, & often times only injure it Leave it to die in a painful slow way.
Vous devriez acheter un trépied pour poser votre caméra, vos prises de vues seraient beaucoup plus stables et celà rendrait le visionnage plus agréable à suivre...
Frosty ground hard or hounds to run and trail on

( “Sport” hunting is a sickness, a perversion and a danger and should be recognised as such. People who get their “amusement” from hunting and killing defenceless animals can only be suffering from a mental disorder. Quote Roger Moore) I totally agree 😠
I'm 74 and the 4th generation of fox hunters. We ran registered English Walkers under "Riceland Kennels". Three generations of my family were pictured on the Hunter's Horn Magazine. We ran fewer hounds unless we were running in a field trail. Field trails were three day events. Hounds were cast each day at sunrise and were scored by judges (some on horseback) until noon each day. Points were awarded for hunting, trailing, speed and drive, and endurance. Entries were "scratched" disqualified for loafing, returning to cast, running a covered track, cunning running, cutting and slashing, running a trash animal, etc. Trial dogs were divided into Derby Dogs under 2 years old, and All Aged dogs over 2 years old. We ran our hounds many times in the Central Louisiana Fox Hunters Association Field Trail held during thanksgiving holidays in the vast pineywoods near Gardner Louisiana. No guns were allowed. No fox were killed. I those days everything was open woods and pastures. Everything was free range. No trials were held in pens. Fox were wild. I was fox hunting before I could talk. Fox were revered. We made sure they flourished, through habitate protection and controled access to their range. No treed fox was harrassed. No fox that went to ground was dug up or harrassed. Dogs were collared and lead away from the tree or hole. The fox was more important than a dog. I was given a red fox kit by a farmer. I named him Hobo and raised him as a pet. We turned him out often with young puppies. He would nip the puppies and make them chase him. He'd string em all out in and race and then cut back on them weaving in and out between the puppies making them fall and crash into each other. We laughed at his antics. Hobo would cackle, bark, and pop his tail at the puppies. Daring them to run him. After the racing and fun He'd come back to me. I keep him until he was grown. We lived near a bayou and woods. I let him out to decide if he wanted to live as a pet or go wild. Eventually Hobo came home less and less until he was only seen ocassionally. When I went to college Whitetail deer were reintroduced to our hunting grounds. With the deer came the coyote. Coyote displaced the wild Grey and Red Fox. Landowners became possessive of the Whitetail and didn't want Fox hunters, Raccoon hunters, rabbit hunters or Squrriel hunters on their land. That was the end of our 4-generation of fox hunting. Mom said turned loose deer caused my dad's heart attack. I really enjoyed your video. I know you love your hounds and take care of your fox with dog proof hides. I know just how valuable an honest foxhound can be. What good fun your having.
